Purpose/Focus: The Delta Challenge, created in 2003, paves the way for Sorority members, family, friends and the African American community to achieve the dream of homeownership. Through national partnerships with a leading mortgage insurer, home finance agency, and other companies, The Delta Challenge provides a platform for Sorority members to recycle wealth internally while leaving the economic playing field in the African American community through homeownership and real estate investing.
The Beginning
Sorors Darlene Pollard, Midwest Regional Director 2003 - 2007 and Sheila Wilkinson-Sanders of the Mighty Midwest Region organized a coaches training session held in April, 2004. Soon after, the region served the public by hosting six Homeownership Counseling sessions in the Greater Chicago and Cleveland areas.
The House That Delta Built
In 2007, the sorors of Supreme Manor Real Estate organized "The House That Delta Built" team to actively support the goals of the Delta Homeownership Initiative and the Economic Development component of the sorority's 5-point programmatic thrust.
To date, they have volunteered their time and services to the community by participating in several free homeownership workshops, seminars and fairs throughout the city and suburbs.
Leadership Award
Soror Sheila Wilkinson-Sanders of Chicago Alumnae Chapter, was the first Regional Homeownership Coordinator to declare a mission to certify every chapter in the region over a 60 day time period! What a MIGHTY Goal! |
